About Us

Our History

WELCOME TO CLEAR PATH BROKERAGE

With ten years of industry experience Rodrigo Mora launched Clear Path on September 2008, at the very height of the financial crisis.  The launch of Clear Path was not planned or expected, it was a response to the consumer’s cry for help when major insurance companies were non-renewing homeowners in close proximity to the coastline.  The goal was to help homeowners who were losing their insurance obtain a policy that resembled, as close as possible, the ones they had.  To this day insuring coastal properties and non-coastal properties is an area where we bring deep experience.

THE END OF A GOLDEN ERA

Early on in our history we found ourselves working with a lot of contractors.  We are sure many in the construction industry will remember the 2008 - 2010 period as the end of the golden years.  This marked the end of a period where General Contractors didn't really scrutinize their sub-contractor’s policies all that much (Outside of Manhattan of course).  Insurance policies were still inexpensive, relative to today, and there were plenty of insurance companies willing to offer policies, but all that began to change in 2010.

THE DOUBLE WHAMMY

  1. Most of the General Contractors began scrutinizing their sub-contractor's insurance policies, it was as if a switch had been flipped, almost overnight many of our clients had these complex insurance requirements they needed to comply with in order to land work.

    1. This caused a flight to high quality insurance companies who charged higher premiums than many of our contractors were accustomed to.  Their audit process was also new to many smaller contractors.

  2. In addition 2010 marked the beginning of when the insurance landscape began to change for contractors.  Insurance companies began pulling out of the contractor insurance market in New York, mass cancellations or non-renewals ensued.  Consequently the number of insurance companies willing to provide quality coverage to contractors began to dwindle.

    1. This caused insurance premiums to rise, a simple case of supply and demand

We actively began advocating to all our clients the importance of including insurance costs within their proposals.  Those that didn’t ended up giving away their profits to the insurance companies for lack of proper planning and financial controls.  Thankfully shortly after the double whammy the work started rolling in, our contractors were able to meet their insurance obligations to their clients and finally enjoyed a much needed financial break.  Luckily we have been a part of our client’s story during those grueling years.

We express our gratitude to all our clients and our strategic partners who showed a deep loyalty to our firm during those years.  We made it through together because we all shared a sense that better times were ahead, even while in the midst of economic uncertainty.

WHY CHOOSE US?

Many of our clients have found their way to us after facing difficulty in finding insurance to meet some type of insurance requirement.

For some of you, you couldn't buy that house you wanted because the insurance was just expensive or all wrong. Or in the case of contractors, your inability to find a policy that would meet the requirements of the General Contractor kept you from landing the big contract.

In all cases we have taken on, we solved our client's insurance problems which allowed them to buy the house or to pursue their business dreams. We look forward to sharing those experiences with you, so that you may excel where those before have failed or stumbled.
